6 Weeks of Summer

Join us for 6 Weeks of Summer at Hatfield Park!

Running from Wednesday 23rd July to Tuesday 2nd September, each week offers a variety of themed activities. Learn about the wonders of nature, unleash your inner artist and immerse yourself in the world of theatre and film, all within the vibrant setting of Hatfield Park.

Enjoy a mix of activities included in your Park and Gardens ticket, plus special events with supplementary charges.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

 

Week I: Meet the Makers Week

From 23rd to 27th July

Kick-start your summer with craftsmanship and creativity. Take part in hands-on craft workshops and discover the fascinating lives of bees.

 

Week 2: Stage and Screen Week

From 28th July to 3rd August

Lights, camera, action! Dive into the world of theatre and film with thrilling performances from Immersion Theatre, cinema screenings in the Motor House, and a woodland storytelling adventure!

Activities:

Monday 28th July, Wednesday 30th July, Saturday 2nd August and Sunday 3rd August

  • Woodland Storytelling Experience (at 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm)

Featuring a new Alice in Wonderland storyline for 2025, this fun and engaging trail includes props, activities, and games to enjoy along the way. Recommended for ages 5 to 8.

  • Twelfth Night by Changeling Theatre*

Week 3: Transport Week

From 4th to 10th August

During this exciting week dedicated to all things transport, build planes, trains, and automobiles, and bring the week to a close with a classic vehicle display.

Activities:

Monday 4th August to Sunday 10th August

  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles Workshop (included in your Park and Gardens ticket)

Unleash your creativity as you build your very own wooden models using wooden pieces, dowels and glue in this hands-on, imagination-fuelled workshop.

Week 4: History Week

From 11th to 17th August

Step back in time and uncover the stories of the past. Enjoy guided tours of the Old Palace, and trailer tours to Hill End Farm.

Discover tales of the Tudors in this family-friendly guided tour of Queen Elizabeth I’s childhood home.

Week 5: Art Week

From 18th to 24th August

Gather natural materials from the parkland—such as daisies, leaves, and dandelions—and create your own beautiful collage inspired by nature.

  • Photography Talk with Pete Seaward

A beginner-friendly introduction to photograph, led by renowned Estate photographer Pete Seaward.

Monday 18th August, Tuesday 19th August and Friday 22nd August

  • Exclusive Screening of ‘Celebrating the Return of The Rainbow Portrait – Conservation & Context’ (screening at 2pm)

Discover the fascinating story behind the restoration of Queen Elizabeth I’s iconic Rainbow Portrait. This exclusive lecture delves into the painting’s symbolism, historical context and conservation.

Get up close with owls and bugs, and discover how these fascinating creatures contribute to the natural ecosystem.
