On This Day…17th November 1558

Today in 1558, the then Princess Elizabeth was sitting under a great oak in the Park at Hatfield when news came that her sister had died and she was now Queen of England. A few days later she held her first Council of State in the now Old Palace before travelling to London. #onthisday
