VOLUNTEERING IN THE GARDENS

History and Horticulture

Hatfield Park’s gardens, curated by Lady Salisbury and her team, blend historic elegance with horticultural artistry. Visitors can explore the West Garden’s exquisitely curated formal gardens and extensive woodland garden collection, the refined parterres and topiary of the East Garden, and the intricate mini-maze of the Old Palace Garden.

The Woodland Garden features bluebells, wildflowers, magnolias, and hydrangeas, while historic elements such as the Queen Elizabeth frieze and rare plant collections add to the gardens’ charm. For those seeking a deeper connection, the opportunity to spend time here as a volunteer offers a unique way to be part of this remarkable setting.

Our volunteer season runs from March to December. We offer one day a week on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
