A breath of fresh air: The wellbeing benefits of working in an inspiring environment
Working amidst the beauty of Hatfield Park offers a unique and inspiring environment which can positively impact the well-being of our team members, residents, and commercial tenants. The stunning parkland, combined with the vibrant local community, creates a truly special place in which to live, work, meet and relax.
Wellbeing refers to an individual’s overall health, happiness and prosperity. It includes physical, mental and emotional factors contributing to a fulfilling life. In the workplace, wellbeing focuses on creating a supportive and positive environment where employees can thrive both professionally and personally.
Prioritising wellbeing in the workplace is crucial for boosting productivity, reducing absenteeism and retaining top talent. It also promotes a positive workplace culture, leading to better team dynamics and a positive organisational reputation.
We asked some of the team here what it means to come to work at Hatfield Park:
Rachael Elwin, Senior Development Manager, Strategic Sites
“I bring my dogs Panther and Loki in most days, meaning my lunch breaks are usually brisk walks through the woodlands. It’s a good way to get some headspace to ponder challenges or how best to proceed with something which perhaps has been causing me an issue. It’s also nice to crunch through podcasts, with 50 Shades of Planning and Surveyor Says being particular favourites.”
Claire Beech, Receptionist and Administrator
“It’s been a real pleasure to be able to run in the park after work. I started in May 2023 with the objective of being able to take part in the Willow 5k run in October, which I did. A few of the Estate staff have continued for the most part on a weekly, and sometimes twice weekly basis. I am aiming to compete in the Willow 5k again in future.”
Damien Fouracres, Financial Controller
“A unique experience for me is to be able to use the Real Tennis court before work and in lunch breaks. It is rare to get an opportunity to play this sport, let alone have it readily available! It’s a great way to meet with lots of different people linked to the Estate such as tenants, former tenants and staff members.
The other great side of working here is the ability to get involved in fitness and exercise. I go to Horizon CrossFit in the mornings before work, showering within the Estate Office which is convenient. Also, having acres of Parkland and Woodland Walks to walk in means you can get away from your desk should you need to. We actively encourage this within the Finance Team and have a monthly ‘Get away from your desk’ lunch organising which usually includes a walk in the park.”
Fiona Massey, Head of Human Resources
“I love having The Oak House on our doorstep – I can nip over to a class in a truly unique and beautiful venue just a stone’s throw from my desk. The setting and quality are fantastic. I’ve also had the opportunity to take part in some yoga classes outside in the Park, which was a really fabulous experience I had never had before. Having beautiful parkland surrounding us is very special in a workplace.”
