Working Horses Experience

Immerse yourself in the historical tradition of horse drawn agriculture and join us at Hatfield Park for our Working Horses Experience.

Under the supervision of expert handlers, learn how to interact and work with these magnificent animals, extracting timber from the woodland using sustainable, historic methods. Indulge yourself in a freshly prepared picnic and glass of Champagne in our Bird Hide, overlooking the beautiful River Lea as is runs through the Hatfield Estate. After lunch, sit back and enjoy a carriage ride around our ancient woodlands and parklands.

Suitable for all levels of experience.

ON THE DAY:

  • Meet these wonderful working horses and learn about grooming and reining techniques
  • Put into practice all you’ve learned by extracting timber directly from woodlands
  • You will be served a delicious Wild Alban picnic in our riverside Bird Hide before being taken on a horse-drawn carriage ride around the beautiful, historic Hatfield Park

Parking is free, please enter via George’s Gate AL9 5HX

PEDESTRIANS:

Pedestrians will be able to enter on foot or via public transport through our Fore Street Gate, please first approach the gate opposite Hatfield Train Station, here they will be able to direct you to our Fore Street Gate.
