DESCRIPTION:Get suited and booted to discover the secrets of one of the most important and fascinating creatures on the planet. \nOn our Beekeeping Experience you’ll discover the lifecycle and roles of honeybees\, all the different tools and equipment used in beekeeping\, and learn about a selection of hive products. \nBeelieve it or not…\nCollectively\, a large\, healthy colony of bees can fly the equivalent of many times around the earth in a single day. \nAfter lunch\, you’ll be donning your protective equipment to meet our busy\, buzzy friends up close\, learn how to inspect a hive\, and be given the chance to handle a frame of bees for yourself. It’s also the perfect point for a photo opportunity\, which we can send you as a memento of your day. \nFinally\, after you’ve honed your hive-handling technique\, it’s time to relax with a honey-tasting session\, featuring a pre-prepared selection of local honeys to savour. \nIt’s the perfect experience for anyone that finds bees fascinating or is even thinking of keeping their own bees and would like to know more. Bee quick and book your experience now. \nFAQ’S\nWHAT DOES THE EXPERIENCE INCLUDE?\nVisitors will enjoy access to the full menu from the Coach House Kitchen. On arrival\, you will be offered a hot or cold drink and a pastry or cake\, with another hot or cold drink at the break. At lunch\, you will be treated to a main\, dessert and drink from the restaurant. In addition\, guests will receive a honey tasting session and a beekeeping goody bag including a jar of Hatfield Park honey and a beeswax candle. \nWHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/WEAR?\nAttendees must wear or bring to change into: a long-sleeved top\, full-length trousers and closed footwear that goes above the ankle\, such as walking boots. All protective equipment needed to work with the bees will be provided for you. \nWHO CAN ATTEND?\nMinimum age 16 – though in that case a parent/guardian may have to sign the waiver. \nWHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS UNSUITABLE?\nIf it is raining\, below 15c\, or very windy we won’t be able to open the bees. This may mean that the course is postponed at short notice. If your course is cancelled by us\, we’ll try our best to find you a suitable alternative date. If we’re unable to\, we’ll refund your payment in full. \nWHAT COVID MEASURES ARE IN PLACE?\nCOVID measures will be in place subject to legislation at the time. \nWe’ll send you an email two weeks before your course with all information you need with regards to entrances\, parking\, the timetable and more.

DESCRIPTION:Join our Head Gardener Andrew Turvey for an enlightening evening tour of our Historic Gardens. This exclusive experience will begin with Andrew meeting you on arrival and leading you through the West Garden describing the landscape and plants which are grown. Andrew will then lead you into Lord and Lady Salisbury’s private garden including the South Front which allows wonderful views of the southern façade of the House along with views out to the Deer Park which are not usually seen. \nThe tour will continue into the East Garden where you will stop for a glass of champagne while admiring views of the House across the lake. This will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions on how the Gardens are maintained and developed as well as asking your own gardening questions. Andrew will then lead you back through the Kitchen Garden to the North Front completing your panoramic tour of Hatfield House Gardens. \nMaximum 20 people per tour. Umbrellas will be available but\, if heavy rain is forecast we will contact you on the morning of the event and you will be given a full refund. \nDirections\nYou will enter the Park via Station Lodge (AL9 5AE).
