SUMMARY:Hatfield House Music Festival: Musical Time Travel
DESCRIPTION:Whenever we listen to music we are time travelling\, whether we realise it or not. Everything we hear belongs to a particular moment and place – and the music takes us there. Meanwhile\, the greatest music also manages to be timeless and to belong everywhere. \nThoughts like these were much in the thoughts of the Hatfield House Music Festival creative team as they worked on the theme for 2024\, Musical Time Travel. \nThe creative team also wanted to celebrate some significant anniversaries such as Fauré\, Schoenberg\, the BBC New Generation Artists. Another highlight of the Festival is featuring eminent composers from much earlier times who had particular associations with the Salisbury family with namely Dowland and Handel. The Festival also looks to the future and welcomes Guy Johnston’s newly formed Bechstein Piano Trio. \nAnd there’s much more… \nHatfield House\, its Park and surroundings resonate with history. Where better to let our imaginations transport us through the ages with Songs Through Time and with chamber music masterworks by Mozart\, Beethoven\, Schubert\, Brahms and Dvořák? \nHere’s what the critics said about our 2023 Festival: \nReview of the Horn Recital \n‘There are so many impressive moments: perhaps a word for Tom Poster’s playing\, not only throughout but particularly the way he set up the absolutely shimmering atmosphere in the third movement.’ \nReview of Voices and Viols \n‘The result was a refreshing spirit of conviviality and collaboration\, the informality of which in no way lessened the ‘seriousness’ of the musicians’ intent or communication.’ \nReview of Friday’s Festival Family \n‘The first movement was tuneful\, perky and neo-classical\, with the wind instruments to the fore and the piano deftly supporting. This continued in the slow movement\, with the three wind lines intertwining over the piano\, creating some lovely harmonic textures\, whilst the final movement was a perky moto perpetuo with a fabulous climax.’ \nFor the full 2024 Festival programme and to book tickets please see here: programme page.

SUMMARY:Henry V presented by the Changeling Theatre
DESCRIPTION:We few\, we happy few\, we band of brothers \nThe Changeling Theatre Summer Tour 2024 present William Shakespeare’s Henry V at Hatfield Park\, 14th August. \nA young superstar King has ascended the English throne. When his advisors tell him the French throne is rightfully his too\, Henry falls for their persuasion. An insult from the Dauphin – heir to the French throne – is enough to trigger Henry\, who gathers a mighty fleet and invades France. \nAfter defeating the French at Harfleur and Agincourt\, the young King makes the old King of France swear to hand the throne to him on his death\, making him King of both countries. To seal the deal he marries the old King’s daughter\, Princess Katherine. \nBased on the events of the Hundred Years’ War\, Henry V is much more than a historical documentary. It is a play about the merits of war\, set against the moral and personal cost of conflict. \nOnce more unto the breach dear friends… \nThe Changeling Theatre produces high quality\, entertaining theatre in non-traditional locations for community audiences across South East England. Productions range from re-interpretations of Shakespeare and modern classics to working with new writers and composers to create innovative new theatre. \nCompany \nDirector\nRobert Forknall \nGeneral Manager\nDawn Archer \nDesign\nAlice McNicholas \nGraphic Design\nDan Bull \nBrand and content\nJill Hogan \n  \nAll seating is unreserved. \nPlease bring your own blankets/ chairs – seating is not provided. \nThe Coach House Kitchen will be open until the beginning of the performance. Picnics welcome. \nTickets: \nAdults: £25.00\, Ages 10-18: £15.00 \nChildren aged under ten go free to all performances but will require a ticket. ‘Free’ tickets are not available for purchase on-line. Please contact the Box Office on 01634 338338 to purchase your tickets if you have children aged under 10 in your party.

Within each 5 week course\, we delve into a new thoughtfully curated theme. Each class is unique\, drawing on elements from the one before it\, to support and inspire you on your yoga journey. \nABOUT ME:\nMy practice and teaching are inspired by yoga\, pilates\, qigong\, somatics and dance. I believe in empowering people to learn through their felt experience\, by attuning to their body’s inherent wisdom and intelligent design. I am interested in movement being an intrinsically rewarding practice that cultivates deep connection\, strength and fluidity in the body as well as a joyful presence of being. \nMy classes are slow\, deep\, and strong\, with flowing sequencing guided by the breath. I have been fortunate to train with and learn from wonderful teachers\, most notably Jean Hall\, Eileen Gauthier\, Mimi Kuo Deemer and more recently James Rafael\, Paula Andreewitch\, Aki Omori and so many other excellent teachers and movement scientists. \nWe typically start with subtle and somatic movements leading into strong\, dynamic flows followed by restorative practices at the end. We often use various yoga props such as straps\, blocks and bolsters to support our practice. \nMy training in Daoist Flow Yoga with Jean Hall\, Mimi Kuo Deemer and James Rafael has hugely inspired me to continue exploring movement\, mindfulness and meditation practices and philosophical teachings that cultivate joy\, purpose and nourishment for a life that is in flow. \nBOOK NOW\nWednesday nights at 17:00 \nThe Oak House Studio & Therapies \nChurch Lane\, Hatfield\, England\, AL9 5HX\, United Kingdom (map) \n31.01.24 – 28.02.24 \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Hear Hatfield Park’s response to ash dieback.
DESCRIPTION:Hear Hatfield Park’s response to ash dieback. \n🚨 The Challenge: \nAsh Dieback (also known as chalara) is a fast-spreading disease specific to ash trees which has become widespread across Europe.  Usually fatal to an infected tree\, it has already caused huge damage across the UK. \n🛡️ Our Approach: \nWhile there’s no cure\, some ash trees show resistance. We’re keeping these resilient trees\, hoping they’ll provide healthy seeds and saplings for decades. Unfortunately\, severely infected trees must be removed before they die and collapse\, allowing us to replant with a diverse mix of broadleaf trees\, boosting species and age diversity in Hatfield Park’s woodland. \n🌳 More Information: \nCome and listen to our expert forester\, Ben Manning\, discuss our strategy in detail. Learn how we’re dealing with the ash dieback and ensuring a vibrant\, resilient woodland for generations to come. \nEvent Details: \n🗓️ Date: January 18th \n🕡 Time: 6:30 PM \n📍 Venue: Old Palace\, Hatfield Park \nFree Parking: \n🚗 Hatfield Park Visitor Car Park\, Church Lane\, Hatfield AL9 5HX.
