This is a rare opportunity to view an important example of Wright’s work\, which is not normally on public display. \n  \n \n  \nEvent Details: \n\nDate: Friday 17th October\nTime: 6pm until 9pm\nLocation: Hatfield House\, Hatfield Park\nTicket Price: £50\n\n  \nThis exclusive event will feature talks from four eminent scholars and professionals: \n\nNicole Ryder: Nicole studied Art History and painting conservation at the Courtauld Institute and the Tate Gallery\, and has worked with major UK and international collections\, including the National Trust\, Wallace Collection\, Dulwich Picture Gallery\, Knole\, and Hatfield Park.\nDr Susan North: Curator of Fashion before 1800 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London\, she has contributed to several V&A publications and has published numerous articles and chapters on historical dress. Her book\, Sweet and Clean? Bodies and Clothes in Early Modern England (Oxford University Press\, 2020)\, won the American Historical Association’s Leo Gershoy Award in 2021.\nKaren Hearn FSA: Former Curator at Tate Britain (1992–2012)\, and now Honorary Professor at UCL. Her research focuses on Tudor and Stuart British art\, curating major exhibitions including Dynasties (1995)\, Van Dyck & Britain (2009)\, and Portraying Pregnancy (2020). Her work spans writing\, teaching\, and broadcasting.\nHolly Tatham: Assistant Curator at Young V&A in Bethnal Green\, east London\, Holly co-curated the museum’s Play Gallery and worked for five years on the award-winning transformation of the V&A Museum of Childhood into Young V&A. It’s also the perfect point for a photo opportunity\, which we can send you as a memento of your day. \nIt’s the perfect experience for anyone that finds bees fascinating or is even thinking of keeping their own bees and would like to know more. Bee quick and book your experience now. \nFAQ’S\nWHAT DOES THE EXPERIENCE INCLUDE?\nVisitors will enjoy a hot or cold drink and a pastry or cake upon arrival\, followed by another hot or cold drink during the break\, with lunch also included. Additionally\, guests will receive a honey tasting session and a beekeeping goody bag\, which includes a jar of Hatfield Park honey and a beeswax candle. \nWHAT DO I NEED TO BRING/WEAR?\nAttendees must wear or bring to change into: a long-sleeved top\, full-length trousers and closed footwear that goes above the ankle\, such as walking boots. All protective equipment needed to work with the bees will be provided for you. \nWHO CAN ATTEND?\nMinimum age 16 – though in that case a parent/guardian may have to sign the waiver. \nWHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS UNSUITABLE?\nIf it is raining\, below 15c\, or very windy we won’t be able to open the bees. This may mean that the course is postponed at short notice. If your course is cancelled by us\, we’ll try our best to find you a suitable alternative date. DESCRIPTION:Join our Head Gardener Andrew Turvey for an enlightening evening tour of our Historic Gardens. This exclusive experience will begin with Andrew meeting you on arrival and leading you through the West Garden describing the landscape and plants which are grown. Andrew will then lead you into Lord and Lady Salisbury’s private garden including the South Front which allows wonderful views of the southern façade of the House along with views out to the Deer Park which are not usually seen. \nThe tour will continue into the East Garden where you will stop for a glass of champagne while admiring views of the House across the lake. This will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions on how the Gardens are maintained and developed as well as asking your own gardening questions. Andrew will then lead you back through the Kitchen Garden to the North Front completing your panoramic tour of Hatfield House Gardens. \nMaximum 20 people per tour. Umbrellas will be available but\, if heavy rain is forecast we will contact you on the morning of the event and you will be given a full refund. \nDirections\nYou will enter the Park via Station Lodge (AL9 5AE). Christine will carefully take you through a drawing and painting workshop to inspire and encourage creativity in a wide range of art materials. \nSunday 5th November 2023\nKeeping a Nature Journal/Creative Sketchbook \nYou will be shown methods\, materials and techniques to use for keeping a nature journal that will inspire you creatively and enable you to keep a personal nature diary.\nIf you like foraging and keeping a record of the natural treasures out there to observe more closely or / and inspire your artwork\, this is a fun but informative and creative practise session with Christine. \nAfter a 2 course lunch served in the Coach House Kitchen\, the session will focus on different ways that can be used to choose your subject matter\, and techniques to help keep records\, learning how to use a sketchbook and gather visual information and references.
